đ§ Mental wellbeing is often overlooked when it comes to an individualâs overall health. Just as with physical wellbeing, mental wellbeing can have a massive effect on our daily lives and our ability to manage routine activities and with pressures in society only growing, these can effect anyone at any point in their lives.
As with our physical health, while things may appear to be healthy, there can be underlying issues which arenât necessarily obvious and which can further translate and cause physical health problems. For example, when a person is under pressure or stressed, it can lead to raised blood pressure and heart rate and if these observations continue persistently for an extended period of time, it can lead to cardiovascular conditions. Also, when a person is depressed or anxious they may have limited energy which may have an effect on personal relationships and motivation for various meetings, activities and exercises.
Fortunately, in recent years there has been lots of research and developments surrounding mental wellbeing as we have finally realised that our mental wellbeing is directly linked to and is as important to our health as our physical wellbeing.
NHS guidelines on helping mental wellbeing:
đŹđ Connect with people â good relationships are important for your mental wellbeing (meet people face to face and don't rely on technology for this)
đŽââïž Be physically active â can help to raise self-esteem, boost your mood, and give you more energy
đ Do something for yourself â try a new hobby or learn a new skill, this can help to boost self-confidence and self-esteem
đ Give to others â helps to give a sense of reward and think positively
đââïž Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness)
đŽ Get a good amount of sleep each night to feel better mentally and physically

đŹđ Look out for your pals and check in every now and then to make sure everything is all good â€
